COURSE DESCRIPTION:  Have you dreamed of turning your love of writing into a service you can offer to others? you have a business of your own and need to understand the world of copywriting and content writing better, so you can sell more products and services?

This 5-week course provides an in-depth look at how to craft authentic marketing messages through various forms of webcopy. All materials submitted are reviewed and thoughtful, specific feedback will be provided to each student.

Jumpstart your copywriting career and join this class for in-depth learning and a dive into the world of all things webcopy!

This class starts on Monday, February 15, 2016.

This course meets for 5 weeks (Monday, February 15 - Friday, March 18, 2016).

On Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 1PM ET, the instructor will host a live Q&A session via telephone. You will be able to call in and get your most pressing questions answered, as well as engage with the other members of the class and share your ideas.

Each class module is delivered via video with guided worksheets at the beginning of the week. Students submit their weekly work to the instructor for individual feedback.

You will be able to download the videos and guided worksheets so you can reference them at any time.

Shannon absolutely rocks when it comes to writing email copy! Over the course of one month, Shannon helped me write 5 emails for a business I had just started. Week One: Copywriting Types. We will discuss the various kinds of copywriting and how to get started on your first piece of copy.

Assignment: Students will draft an enticing About page based on themselves or someone they know.

Week Two: 5 Useful Tools/Tactics for Your Copywriter’s Toolkit. We will explore 5 tools/tactics you can add to your copywriter’s toolkit, ensuring you continue to make progress in your copywriting projects.

Assignment: Students will apply the tactics/tools to the About page from Week 1, enhancing the copy, and submit for instructor review and feedback.

Week Three: Craft Authentic Marketing Messages. We will discuss how to craft authentic marketing messages so that you connect with your readers on an emotional level. (Because people buy with emotions!)

Assignment: Students will explore the emotional side of sales, and craft a product or service description based on the principles learned in class.

Week Four: The Anatomy of a Non-Sleazy Sales Page. We will discuss how to write a sales page you feel good about, rooted of course in authentic language.

Assignment: Students will use the assignment from Week 3 as a spring board for crafting a simple sales page. This will be submitted for instructor review and feedback.

Week Five: Content Writing vs. Copywriting. We will discuss the difference in format and function between content writing and copywriting.

Assignment: Students will write a content-centered piece of copy based on the product or service sales page written in Week 4. This will be submitted for instructor review and feedback.

Materials needed: All written materials and resources are provided by the instructor.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: M.
