Update On WOW! Winter '07-'08 Flash Fiction Contest
Tick-tock... I know you all must be waiting on pins and needles to hear the announcement of the Winter Flash Fiction Contest winners--and believe me, we are waiting patiently too. Right now your entries are in the hands of our fabulous guest judge for the season, Kristin Nelson, who is working diligently to deliver the final scores.
We had a great turnout this season (our biggest yet!), so it's not too surprising that this contest has been incredibly hard to judge. We wish you the best of luck, and are keeping our fingers crossed for all those who have entered. We've enjoyed reading your entries, and applaud you for hitting the send button. You are all winners in our hearts for getting your work out there and crafting amazing stories that resonate with our guest judges.
Please stay tuned, as the Flash Fiction Winners will be announced in a feature in WOW! Women On Writing's April Issue, which is due out in the first week of April.
Best of luck!
Love ~ Team WOW!

Thanks for the update!
So, just out of curiosity, when you say, "great turnout" and "our biggest yet," what kind of numbers are we talking about here? Less than 50? More than 100? It would be nice to have a ballpark idea of what the competition is like -- is that possible? And thanks, too, for the update and all your positive energy!
Hi Anonymous,
To answer your question in a round-about way: if we ever get enough entrants to actually cover the whole cost of the contest prizes and shipping (over $2,000), then we will open up another contest. We hope that will happen some day, but right now we mostly do it to promote and honor writers. Remember, we do have 35 winners after all! That's quite a lot of prizes. ;o)
I appreciate your patience, and thank you for the kind words.
Warmest,
Angela
Thank you for the update! It sounds like Kristen is very busy and a little behind schedule. Can you tell me if the top ten entries have been notified already? If so, there must have been a mistake because I didn't get my notice! ( :
Thanks for all you are doing! I just love the site.
I was also wondering if the top ten entries have been notified by email. Thanks! Love the site too!
I would also like to know if the top ten entrants have been notified. Thanks for the wonderful contest.
I can't even get through the FIRST round anymore! I sure had beginners' luck! Ha ha.:-)
Thanks for the udpate. Must have been a lot of interesting ones since there was no prompt and it was wide open!
Hi all,
Yes, the top 10 winners have now been officially notified. But, the 25 honorable mentions haven't yet. Honorable Mentions will be receiving an email by the end of the week notifying you if you won an honorable mention.
And Marci ~ I don't know why you're not getting our emails! =/ Perhaps your email is blocking our Constant Contact program? I assure you that you made it through the first round. ;o)
Best of luck everyone, and thank you for being patient. I know it's tough to wait.
Warmest,
Angela
Hmmmm, I've never known my email to do that. I bet you say that to ALL the entrants! ;-)
