MINI COURSE: START-TO-FINISH—GETTING PUBLISHED IN MAGAZINES
by Allena Tapia
START DATE: Closed
DURATION: 4 weeks
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is for those who have some basic writing talent/ability and are interested in publishing articles (non-fiction, human interest work) in consumer magazines. This is designed as a mini-course for those with little time for class work in that it is short (4 weeks) and all written assignments will be immediately useful to the goal at hand. The course begins from scratch, and will specifically walk the writer through the process of idea generation, magazine targeting, making contact with editors, and pitching story ideas. The difference in this course is in the direct support of the instructor in moving you toward your goal. Because of this service, class size is limited.
This course includes:
- Weekly lesson material via text delivery (PDF or similar) and a back up supplemental YouTube video.
- Brief homework assignments with personalized, targeted feedback. Includes critique of article ideas, selected outlets, pitch letters, etc.
- Open virtual communication with the instructor for the span of the course and beyond.
- Private forum for class participant interaction and discussion with optional participation.
- Final one-on-one support on an implementation plan, helping you go in a proactive, planned direction so that you can be published and earn back your class fee as soon as possible!
